Video is a resource that is increasingly used to support classroom learning. Schools that caption media content are finding that captions and subtitles improve engagement, retention, and overall learning for all students. For example, subtitles on elementary school educational videos also help promote literacy and language comprehension skills, promoting earlier-age reading for all students by supporting vocabulary recognition. This session teaches free and easy to use techniques to help teachers and students more easily caption videos.

You will learn about your legal obligation to provide accessible media content, the risks for not providing it, why video captions improve learning outcomes for all students, and free or low cost options for adding captions to all media content. This is a hands-on session that you will not want to miss.
