Lydia Harkey

Lydia Harkey serves as the IT Accessibility Director for Texas A&M Systems and several A&M System Members. Her primary role is to drive accessibility standards, policy and provide guidance to meet state and federal accessibility standards requirements. She has over 20 years of experience working in the accessibility program, web design, and development. Her recent affiliation includes member of W3C.org Education Outreach, Texas A&M Systems EIR Accessibility Workgroup, The Texas A&M University’s System’s Administrative Computing Council and the Universal Design for Learning/Accessibility Task Force, a sub-group of the A&M System’s Council for Academic Technology and Innovative Education (CATIE). She has also presented at Accessing Higher Ground, CSUN, and A&M Technology Summit.

She has recently been selected to participate on the International Association of Accessibility Professionals Competencies Development and Review Committee, which will oversee the creation of IAAP’s materials to support IAAP’s Certification exams.
