Jan McSorley

Ms. McSorley has 26 years of experience in K-12 as a teacher and as an Assistive Technology Specialist. In June 2013, she joined Pearson’s Assessment division as an Accessibility Specialist and now serves at the VP of Accessibility for Psychometrics & Testing Services. Jan has direct experience working with students with a wide variety of disabilities and understands the unique needs these students have in the classroom and on high stakes assessment.

Jan received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin, with an emphasis in Instructional Technology and Instructional Design. During her tenure at the Austin Independent School District, she was instrumental in obtaining over 4 million dollars in grant funding that led to the development of the ATSTAR program, as well as to the creation of a very successful 1:1 computer-based instruction program for students with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Jan believes in the capacity of all students to learn and achieve high standards and she dedicates her energy and attention to removing barriers to student success.
